Baptism Baptisms are celebrated every Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the church. Parents are required to participate in one Sacramental Preparation session. These meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday of each month, at 8:00 p.m. in the Parish Center (below the church.) Please call the rectory to arrange an interview with a deacon or priest to register for the preparation session and the Baptism ceremony. Baptism is the door to life and to the kingdom of God. Christ offered this first sacrament of the new law to all that they might have eternal life. When Jesus told Nicodemus that he must be born again if he wished to enter the Kingdom of God, Nicodemus inquired as to what that meant. Jesus responded: "unless you are born of water and the Spirit, you can not enter the kingdom of God" (John 3:3-5) Baptism is that first
sacrament which sets us on our journey to eternal life with God by
giving us a share in Christ's own life for the first time. "Baptism
is the sacrament by which we are incorporated into the Church, built
into house where God lives." (Instruction on Baptism) "Christian
instruction and the preparation for baptism are a vital concern of
God's people, the Church, which hands on and nourishes the faith it
has received from the Apostles... In the baptism of children, the
godparents should be present to be added spiritually to the
immediate family of the one to be baptized and to represent the
Church. "Unless a
man is reborn in water and the Holy Spirit, he cannot enter the
kingdom of God." The Church has always
understood His word to mean that Children should not be deprived of
Baptism, because they are baptized in the faith of the church. This
faith is proclaimed for them by their parents and godparents who
represent the local Church and the whole society of believers.
Parents should not delay the baptism of their children except for
serious reasons; children should be baptized as soon as possible.
There is no specified offering for the
church. However, an offering envelope is provided for those who wish
to make an offering to the parish. The parish has many temporal
needs; your support helps us to continue providing services for the
parish. |
| Reconciliation Confessions are heard in the church on Mondays, 1 :00 - 2:00 p.m.; Saturdays, 4:00 - 4:45 p.m.; and in the rectory by appointment. Confessions are not heard on Mondays that are Holy Days or public holidays. Confessions in Spanish by appointment. Please call the rectory. |

Matrimony We ask that couples anticipating marriage contact the church at least six months prior to their wedding date to confirm a date with the priest or deacon. Arrange for your church date and time before securing the catering hall. Church times are limited whereas catering halls are numerous. Marriage as a sacrament of the Catholic Church is a liturgical service and therefore celebrations of the whole church and not private functions. In the marriage ceremonies the Church receives and blesses the vowed commitment of Christians and gathers them into the mystery of Christ's love for his Church. The married couple becomes the sacrament of Christ's redeeming love to the faith community.

Also, to arrange for Communion to be brought to the shut-in, please call the Parish Social Ministry/Outreach Office. |
