Baptisms are celebrated on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sunday of the month at 2:00 p.m. in the church. Spanish Baptisms are celebrated on the 4th Sunday of the month at 2 p.m. Parents are required to participate in St. Kilian's Baptismal Preparation Program. The program is a three part process that begins with at home preparation, moves onto a meeting with a priest or deacon, and concludes with a group Baptismal preparation class given on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 8 p.m. in the Parish Center. Please call the rectory (516) 249-0127) to begin the process.

Requirements for godparents:

There may be one or two sponsors (godparents). If there are two one must be male (godfather) and the other female (godmother). Two godfathers or two godmothers are not permissible in church law.

The sponsor (godparent) must be

Baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church, and have received Holy Communion.
Designated by the parent of one to be baptized or confirmed.
Completed the 16th year (this may be dispensed by the pastor for good reason).
Living life in harmony with the Catholic faith; if married, validly married in the Catholic faith.
No penalties such as having left the Catholic Church to join another religion; divorced and remarried;
A baptized non-catholic may act as a Christian witness, but not a godparent. There must be one Godparent who fulfills the requirements. Former Catholics may not be admitted as a godparent or witness.
Cannot be either parent.
Godparents must not be of the same gender (two godmothers, two godfathers).

There is no specified offering for the church. However, an offering envelope is provided for those who wish to make an offering to the parish. The parish has many temporal needs; your support helps us to continue providing services for the parish.
